This is a Santoku I made using 52100 High Carbon Steel. I carved the handle from some beautiful, stabilized and dyed maple burl. It has nickel silver and mosaic pins. I gave the blade a mustard patina that runs down the spine and through the tang for a complete look. Its a little hard to see in the photos, but to get kind of an “east meets west” feel, I carved the top half of the handle into an octagon through the palm swell, where it meets the rounded, lower half of the handle.
