I hammer texture the whole crown base after forging it. Then, I hammer out the crescent. I fit up the crescent to match the shape of the crown, then I rivet them both together with copper bar. I blacken the crown base with heat and beeswax, then hand sand the high spots to 800 grit. Then I use a few coats of Renaissance wax to seal it. The crescent is blackened as well. Each one of these are individually hand forged. The one you receive may be slightly different than the one pictured here. The fit can be slightly adjusted.
